Application of "BEST" in tyres already punctured has shown impressive results and has been proven in practice that the material is sealing punctures of the same size as if it was placed before the damage.

 

It seals holes caused by a nail of up to 12mm in diameter for heavy-duty vehicles, up to 6mm for cars and 3mm for motorcycles. The way by which it seals the punctures is the following:

If the tyre is punctured by an object, a hole is created. When the piercing object is removed the air pushes "BEST" into the hole. This means that the rubber crumbs are also "pushed" into the hole and in combination with fibers, a patch is built. Rubber is elastic. It is a material with "memory", which means that it tends to get back in its previous situation - position. As rubber crumbs are blocked in the mass of rubber, the hole is sealed with the aid of the resin and the fibers. Necessary condition for sealing the puncture is that "BEST" must reach the wound.

"BEST" is NOT a self inflated material. It will not expand to fill up the space in the tyre, like other materials in a foam form. "BEST" remains always a liquid therefore it must be led to the puncture. As a result, in order to have the puncture sealed, after the object is removed from the tyre, the vehicle must be removed so that the puncture will be found under the liquid. If the vehicle is parked or if the tyre is not on a vehicle, the wheel must be turned and the puncture must be placed down-wards.

 

Important Notice

BEST" seals holes in the rubber mash. It will never restore the strength of broken belts or armory of the tyre. Nails do not brake metal parts or very rarely they might brake a few.

In case that the same size of wound is caused by a flat piece like a knife or a stone, the possibility of braking metal armory is much increased, therefore an armed patch is necessary to be use. Even in this case, "BEST" will help by delaying air loss.

 

  • "BEST" is developed to function as a protection sealant placed in the tyre in advance, before any damage occurs. It is not developed to be used as a patch after the puncture. Application of "BEST" in tyres already punctured has shown impressive results and has been proven in practice that the material is sealing punctures of the same size as if it was placed before the damage.
    If someone is going to use "BEST" as a repair after the puncture, he must first inflate the tyre, then turn the wheel so that the puncture is down-wards, then install "BEST" in the tyre and wait for some time so that the material arrives on the puncture. Then he must take the nail out of the tyre and store it with the wound down-wards. Some strokes with a hammer or a mallet on the puncture area will help rubber to be sealed.

  • It eliminates porosity leaks and the welding between the tyre and the rim or the valve. Tyre is porous by nature. To prove this, if a tyre is inflated and left with no load, no sun and no movement, then after a short while the tyre will deflate by itself. The resin included in the formula of "BEST" will seal any leakage either from the rubber itself or from the valve and the rim.

  • It does not allow the oxidation of the metal belts of the tyre and all the steel, chromium and aluminum rims. "BEST" is an excellent rust inhibitor. It does not only protect the metals it comes in contact with from rust, that is the rim and valve, but it also protects the belts of the tyre.

    The reasons that a belt may rust are:
    a) The holes that are caused by other objects (nails etc.), even if they are sealed still allow the water from the road to come in contact with the belts and thus cause them to rust.

    b) As mentioned above, the tyre is porous. The humidity of the air in the tyre as it is released from inside to outside the tyre, effects the belts. If rims have rust spots on their surface before use of "BEST", the strong inhibitor elements of the resin will protect these areas and whenever the tyre is removed the rust will be easily moved.

  • It protects the retread from the internal air. The retread process involves: 
    a) Cleaning of the tyre and the tread area.
    b) Removal of dirt and dust from the tread area of the tyre.
    c) Installation of the new tread with glue.
    d) Placement of the tyre and the retread in a pressure cast.
    e) Placement of the cast in a furnace with high pressure and temperature, where the retread "sticks" to the tyre.

    The problem with this method is the glue. As mentioned above the tyre is porous. But glue isn't. The air in the tyre "pushes" the glue outwards. By installing "BEST", we could say that we install "glue" on the internal side of the tyre, so there is no air pressure pushing outwards thus removing the retread.

  • It enforces the balance of the tyre because the liquid resides in the weakest spot, if it is given the necessary time. 
    When "BEST" is installed, it remains fluid in the bottom part of the tyre. When the tyre starts moving, the fluid starts coating the inside of the tyre. 

    In order to complete the coating, a minimum of 5km are necessary. Please note that the operation and Guarantee of "BEST" is valid after the first 5 Km. As the vehicle moves, it must gradually increase its speed so that "BEST" can coat the inside surface of the tyre. It must be mentioned that tyres must be balanced before the application of "BEST". BEST T.D. is designed to be used in velocity less than 80 Km/h.

  • "BEST" transmits the temperature that arises from the friction and flexing of the tyre. As a result tyre operates in a lower average temperature. The flexing and the friction between the tyres and the road, increase the temperature of the tyre. Tests have shown that the temperature stabilizes at about 85°C to 90°C because there is also cold air stream all around the wheel. The problem is that the rubber itself is not a good conductor of temperature; therefore the refrigerating area of the tyre is limited. 

    Installation of "BEST" ensures the stable and even distribution of the temperature through all the area of the tyre, so the tyre operates cooler although the friction temperature secures the necessary road holding. As a result the life of the tyre is increased.

  • "BEST" retains its qualities from -54°C (BEST Glassier), to +125°C (operating temperature of the tyre is approximately 85°C). Tests have shown that the product did not freeze at -54°C nor did it dissolve or "boil" at +125°C in functioning conditions. "BEST" was not tested for temperatures above or below the ones mentioned, because they are far from the operation temperature of a tyre.

  • "BEST" is a very good conductor of electric currency and it facilitates transmition of static electricity. This factor is very important for fuel loading trucks.

  • Although "BEST" will create a permanent patch in any hole within the size of guarantee (up to 12mm), it CANNOT secure that it will stop air leakages from every wound, depending on its size. The reason is that when an object is entering the tyre, most of the times many metal frames are broken; therefore, although "BEST" will seal the leakage or delay air loss, it CANNOT restore the strength of the metal belts. So a repair is necessary. "BEST" is liquid rubber and will cure any damage in rubber mass. Never expect that steel bars can be repaired using rubber.
