An important factor for the operation and guarantee, is the correct installation of "BEST", mainly regarding quantity.

If less quantity is installed then "BEST" will reside in various areas of the tyre, and in case of a puncture there will be air loss. It is very rare, but may come up, the installer to come across a tyre dimension that is not mentioned in the charts. In this case he must install the quantity that is mentioned in the charts for the next dimensions. More quantity will cause no harm. On the contrary, it will though enforce the functionality of "BEST".

 

Preparation before the installation

Before the installation, the installer must have ALL the necessary material and documents, in order to make the sale. If he stops his presentation or sale due to some shortage, the image he gives to the customer is negative and he presents an unorganized system. It is better if he makes the installation on another date, after he has explained to the customer exactly what has happened.

 

CHECK if you have the following:

a) Equipment

  • Valve core remover
  • Enough spare Core valves
  • Enough quantity of "BEST"
  • Compressor in operation
  • "BEST" pump clean and operating
  • Water for washing hands and any dirt

b) Documents

  • Invoice
  • Receipt of payment
  • Daily installation check sheet
  • A copy of the guarantee

 

Installation

Installation is carried out with the condition that the tyre is on the rim, it already has some air pressure and it is balanced. Please abide by the following steps:

• Calculate the volume of "BEST" required per tyre using the tyre volume charts.

• Each full stroke of the piston will provide 100ml. Start counting the quantity injected after the hose of the pump is completely full up to the nozzle.

• Wear protective gloves and glasses. Always take in mind the safety measures. Gloves are necessary because you will have to stop the air coming out of the valve once you have removed the core from it and after you have replaced the core in the valve, once you have finished the installation (See next bullet). Using gloves you avoid the risk of having air or "BEST" forced through the skin into a vein due to high pressure. Glasses are necessary to avoid drops of "BEST", going into your eyes. "BEST" can be installed in every position of the valve provided it is suitable for the worker. 12 o' clock position is more secure for eye protection since valve is turned downwards.

• Unscrew the valve core using a remover. If it is a high-pressure tyre, let some air escape. Please remember that the pump functions in a pressure less than 60 psi.

• Place your finger over the valve to prevent too much air loss. Always wear gloves.

• With the other hand connect the pump nozzle onto the valve stem and open the nozzle valve.

• Pump in the calculated strokes. Push the piston slowly. Quick pumping will create under pressure in the drum. As a result when you pull the piston up, the cylinder of the pump will not fill up and you will install less quantity of "BEST" than the one you think you have installed.

• In case you feel resistance in pushing down the piston, do not push harder . This is an indication that a big rubber crumb does not permit fluid in the valve. In this case:

a. close the nozzle valve,

b. unplug the nozzle chock and let some air to clean the valve,

c. open the nozzle valve and let depressurization of plastic hose,

d. close the nozzle valve again,

e. plug the chock back to the valve and open the valve,

f. continue the installation up to the calculated quantity.

If the air pressure in the tyre is not sufficient to wash the rubber crumb from the valve, use a thin and hard piece of wire to clean it. Then inflate the tyre a little bit, so you will have enough air to clean next possible blockage.

• Close the nozzle valve and remove it. Let some air leak so that the valve tube is free of any rubber crumb and resin that might stick on the core. Place your finger over the valve stem in order to avoid complete deflation of the tyre. Replace the valve core and wash off excess "BEST" from the rim.

• Re-inflate the tyre to suggested correct pressure and replace valve cap.

• Give the necessary invoice and guarantee to the customer.

 

The Pump and its Maintenance

The pumps are designed and produced according to the specification and technical instructions of the company, so that they will ensure safe installation. Our pumps are hand operated and calibrated to inject certain quantity of Best, in the tyre. Air operated pump is not recommended for product injection in a tyre due to the possibility of pressure increase in case of blockage of the valve. Blockage of the valve tube may occur since the product contains solid rubber crumbs. In such a case the air pump would stop its operation when the pressure would have reached a dangerous level.

The pumps are fundamental to the installation and are provided by the company in suitable size to match the pails. Each full stroke of the pump provides 100ml of product. The piston length is suitable for our 30 liter drums. The hose is flexible and the nozzle is metal having a chock and a valve at its end. This pump is suitable for all vehicle. It can inject Best in tyre with air pressure up to 50 psi at the moment of installation. For tyres with functioning pressure up to 130 psi, the installer has to lower down the pressure of the tyre permitting air leakage when he takes the core out of the valve. The pump is firmly screwed on the pail and inject BEST in the tyre throw the valve, using a simple mechanism. The piston is not calibrated for smaller quantities since it is better to inject full strokes. Never install smaller quantities than the ones suggested in the charts.

After the installation is completed always plug the chock so that the product in it will not get dry. A simple way is to plug in an old valve with its core in it.

On a regular basis the sealant pump should be cleaned as follows:

  • Remove it from sealant drum and pump so that the product in it will return to the drum.
  • Place the pump in a bucket full of clean water and pump through till no sign of material is visible in the plastic tube.
  • Dismantle the pump and rinse with clean water.
  • Reassemble in reverse order.
  • Cover the metal surface of the piston with silicon grease.
